Title: Baby-Sitter’s Club - The Truth About Stacey - by Ann Martin
Genre: GN, Realistic Fiction
Stars: 4 out of 5
Description: It takes place in middle school, but feels like elementary school. A group of girls form a club to make money. They will not do the babysitting, but will find babysitting jobs, and get other students to fill the position.
It would be a good book for 6th graders. The story line seemed juvenile for 8th.

Title: This is where it ends – Marike Nijkamp
Genre: Drama
Stars: 4-1/2 out of 5 - some parts were confusing
Description: It's about a school shooting. It begins by describing what was going on inside the auditorium when it all began.
It's told from the perspective of 4 or 5 students in the schoo.l. Some are in the building, but not in the auditorium where it happened. One of them is the sister of the shooter. It may or may not be a true story.
At the end, I wanted to know more about what happened to the students. I hope there's a sequel.

Title - The Great Trouble
Author - Deborah Hopkinson
Stars: 5 out of 5 stars
Historical Fiction/Mystery
Illustrations - Map of London where the event occurred, vaguely visible picture in grey on several of the chapter pages.
Format - It's written as a journal
Setting - The story takes place in London, in the hot summer of 1854 in a poor part of town.
Summary - People are getting sick. Eel, a boy who scavenges and does small jobs for a living, finds himself in trouble. He becomes homeless, he has a secret, he's running from someone, and he's trying to save the lives of the people he cares about. The book is fast paced from beginning to end. You care about Eel and his friends, and hope they all stay safe and well. I wouldn't change the book at all. It would make a great movie. All grade levels would like this book. I really liked it.
